In our work with Dr. Bill Harrison (Sports Eye Doctor to Top Sports Stars) we have discovered humans cannot think and see at the same time! Yet many coaches ignore this fact and because of their own coaching styles and lack of knowledge about vision actually negatively impact their players on the court during matches.
This is the end match team review at Uni High. You will notice Kerri really trying hard to ask open probe questions in order to engage the players. In evaluating I think most viewers will agree she is soliciting more interaction and engagement from the team than she did in the past.
This video was filmed between Set 1 and Set 2 of the match. This is another powerful video which reveals how Andor makes the most use of the limited time focusing on specific players and goals as well as changing the collective energy of the group. Again you will notice the Socratic method of coaching and how Andor takes the players down a path that he wants. This video shows how brilliant coaches interact with their team changing the collective energy during breaks.
Andor is a big believer in “On the Bench Coaching”. In this video viewers will see how Andor interacts and communicates with players on the bench and some of the topics he focuses on. This is a great video showing a good timeout speech by a coach verses a bad timeout speech when coaching youth volleyball. The 6 on 6 Exchange Volleyball Drill on the net is one of the best drills to focus on team ball control and individual controlled hitting. This drill also works on the important and often ignored volleyball skill of moving without the ball. Now considering the fact that the majority of the time players are moving without the ball it is always surprising how little coaches practice this critical skill.
This video features the end of volleyball practice 2 review with the team in the huddle. Its a great video as you will notice how Andor communicates with the team and gets them to focus on important points he is trying to work on during the practice. This video is a great demonstration of how coaches can better use the Socratic method of asking open probe questions to get results. Also this will show coaches how to use the end of practice review huddle to help players better prepare individually and as a team for the next practice.
This is a 6 on 6 Game Wash Drill which includes 4 balls: Serve, Bounce Ball, Free Ball and then a second Serve. Two balls are entered via serve as this is the most common way the ball is entered in volleyball. One ball is entered as a free ball as this is common for this age group and skill level and then one ball is entered as a bounce ball followed by a set to help the team work on transition setting.
In this brutally honest no holds bar video we go through one of the biggest mistakes former players make when coaching and get honest about adjusting goals and expectations when coaching youth players. This is an insightful new look at WHY WE COACH and why we should coach. Our job as coaches is more then just winning it is about changing lives and developing people.

This video features Andor teaching and running the his Omaha Pressure Serving Volleyball Drill. This drill is designed for all skill levels and will help teach your team to serve aggressively under pressure. On top of this the drill does a great job of building team unity. The drill should be run once or twice in practice and can be used to raise the energy of practice plus have some fun!
This video features Andor taking most of the team except liberos through a blocking trips drill. This drill is just flat out ugly, because the players have never run it nor have they effectively been taught how to block. Yet in cases like this it is important to struggle thought the drill so the players can get better. This is what Andor does with Kerri and the team.
This post continues with the serving and passing drill on one court with the outsides, opposites and liberos and on the other court the middles and setters continue to work on teaching the middles movement patterns and how to spike successfully out of the middle hitter position. The drills divide the outsides and liberos on one court to work on serving and passing while on the other court Andor takes the middles and setters to work of movement patterns. This video series is really basic in nature and is designed for players very new to the game. In this case Uni High has several players that have just started playing volleyball, meaning they have played for a year or two, yet they are extremely athletic. This drill works to teach how to be an effective middle player.
Modified on the net pepper volleyball drill with 3 players is a great multi – skill to follow up 90 passes drill. The drill builds on the work players did to imprint good form in the 90 passes drill and now takes that to a more game like situation on the net. The result is players now work on their passing more like what they will see off a serve receive or a free ball.
The setter is the most important player on the court touching the ball almost twice as much as any other player on the court. This volleyball setter drill helps the setter during a time in practice when not much is going on get better with their hand and footwork technique for setting.

The 90 Passes skill building warm up drill is a great drill to teach players concentration, while warming them up focusing on the important skill of passing. What the drill is able to accomplish is a high number of reps (90 For each player) in a really short period of time with very specific focuses, while passing from different points on the volleyball court and onto the net.

This series of two videos features Kerri’s team warm up plus her first drill – Overpass hitting drill. This is the first series of videos where we can see Kerri coaching and observe her coaching style and what drills she likes to run and why. Although the drills she runs are not very good in our opinion based upon the skill of the team and what we see as the team goals it is worth watching so that you can later compare what Andor suggest and why by comparison.
This video features the completion of Kerri second volleyball drill plus Kerri explaining to Andor the purpose of the drill and some of the things she is trying to work on. This is revealing as it helps viewers understand her goals and the drills she is choosing based upon those goals.

In this video Andor has enough and based upon only being in the gym for 4 days decides to take over the practice and run a new offensive drill. Unfortunately it becomes very clear quickly that the level of drills Kerri was running the team at, did not match their skill level and Andor quickly evaluates this while trying to run this first drill.
Andor has taken over practice and has modified the offense drill he was running into a simple exchange drill based upon the skill and ball control of the players. This series of 3 videos is extremely revealing and shows so many important points with regard to good coaching.

This includes adding serving and passing sooner in the practice as well as how Kerri is initiating the plays on the ball.
In this video Andor takes over the drill and makes changes immediately. Andor coaching style, this early in the practice and based upon the needs that he sees is to really be on top of the kids with a ton of verbal cues and correction. Additionally Andor believes in “Raising the expectations,” of everyone on the court and putting players who want to and can perform in a position to do that.
