Andor is a big believer in “On the Bench Coaching”. In these videos viewers will see how Andor interacts and communicates with players on the bench and some of the topics he focuses on. If you are a coach looking to have a bigger impact in the lives of players beyond just playing volleyball this video shows how easily and effectively “On the Bench Coaching is”.
* Note this video is more sensitive than most and we are grateful that the players let us reveal their fears so openly online. Personally, this video is one of my favorite videos from the Volleyball Coaching Nightmares Series as it reveals the massive and immediate impact coaches can have on the development of their players as men! Andor in these two videos is helping one player become a better leader while helping the other change some major limiting beliefs / philosophies in his life.
More Notes: Andor is a big believer in the Socratic Method of Coaching. He uses open probe questions with: Who, What, Why, Where, O, So, Meaning, And, Tell Me to get the players to talk and then he leads them down a path when they have self discovery.

Thanks for sharing these videos, coaches everywhere can benefit by learning more about this method of communicating with players (rather than yelling corrections at them while they’re on the court). Using this method, the boys are more receptive and the message has a much better chance of getting through. One thing you might consider is editing the audio to filter out the background noise, or adding subtitles so we can read the conversation. It is very difficult to hear most of what Andor and the boys are saying.
Thanks for the post, I learned a lot from the video to share with my team that I’m presently coaching in Liberia, West Africa.
