Mike presents a video instructional series on spiking from the right side or opposite position. In this advanced series of 6 instructional videos tips and technique include proper approach footwork to selecting shots to beat the blockers. This is another must see by Mike Diehl!
Video Coaching and Instruction includes:
Video 1 – Keep the body moving toward the middle of the court. This allows for more power but still allows the player to hit the line shot.
Video 2 – Transition spiking from the right side is more involved for right handed hitters. For lefties it is easier. For both make sure to open up to the court to see the ball and the defense.
Video 3 – The selection of shots are demonstrated. They include how to contact the ball for the cross court, the high corner and the line shot.
Video 4 – On a bad set these are several shots that can bring the ball back to the hitters side for another scoring chance. They are the tip, the cross court, among others.
Video 5 – The block can be used to the hitters advantage. Two advantages are to hit off the top of the block. Another is find the hands and swipe the ball out of bounds.
Video 6 – Use good vision to see what the blocker is doing. When a swing block is being done wait for the blocker to drift outside then spike to the open cross court. More examples are also given.
