Logan Tom is the most decorated indoor volleyball player in USA Volleyball history. Mike was a NCAA Champion at UCLA and 15 Year European Indoor Pro, being a 3 time league MVP, along with being the league kill and ace leader. Shawn Patchell has coached professionally in Europe, the USA Men’s Team, USA U21 Team, USA Boys Team. On top of this he had an outstanding career as a player leading the NCAA in 1992 in hitting %.
Volleyball for Beginners – Skills Of Passing, Setting, Serving, Spiking, Defense and Blocking
This course will cover volleyball for beginners including the 6 most important skills in the sport; passing, setting, serving, spiking, defense and blocking. This course is appropriate for both players and coaches and lessons include questions and answers to check users understanding of the topics.
Instructors for this beginning volleyball series have collectively played in 13 Olympics, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze, they combine for 4 NCAA MVP Titles, 13 NCAA National Championships and several should end up in the volleyball hall of fame once they are old enough.
Instructors:
Gary is current was the head coach of the Japanese National Men’s Team. Additionally he was the assistant coach for the U.S. men’s 1988 Olympic gold medal and 1992 Olympic bronze medal teams and in 2012. He is also a two time NCAA champion assistant coach at Pepperdine University and former USA boys under 18 head coach. Gary was also and All-American as a Player in College. Gary comes from a family with a rich volleyball background, his famous famous siblings are Eric Sato and Liane Sato, recognized as two of the greatest defenders in USA Volleyball history.
Logan was arguably the #1 indoor volleyball player in the world from 2007-2011. She started playing for the USA national team at the age of 16. She was the Co-Captain of the US National team in 2012 at the Olympics and is a 4 year time all American player at Stanford with 1 NCAA title and MVP title. In 2008 Logan was the Olympics highest points scorer for women’s volleyball.
Jeff is a three time Olympian, indoor 1996, 2000 and beach 2004. In addition he is a two time NCAA Champion and two time NCAA MVP at UCLA. In 2003 he was the AVP MVP and awarded the Team of the Year. He is current USC Men’s Assistant Coach, that achieved the NCAA finals in 2012.
UCLA Head Sand Coach, Stein Metzger was a 2004 Olympian, an 18 time AVP champion, FIVB winner. He is also best known for leading UCLA to 4 consecutive NCAA finals as a starting setting of which they won 3 championships and was named the MVP his senior year.
Mike Diehl – Diehl was a NCAA Champion at UCLA, a 4 Man Bud Tour MVP and Kill Leader, he is a 15 Year European Indoor Pro, being a 3 time league MVP, along with being the league kill and ace leader. On top of this he has 15 years coaching and personal training experience.
Shawn Patchell is the current Concordia Men’s Volleyball Coach as well as the current director of T Street Volleyball club. Shawn has coached professionally in Europe, the USA Men’s Team, USA U21 Team, USA Boys Team. On top of this he had an outstanding career as a player leading the NCAA in 1992 in hitting %.
Chris Austin was a 2 Time NCAA Championship starting setter at UCI under John Speraw and David Kniffin, two of the best coaches currently in men’s volleyball. On top of this he coaches an under sized club team that is currently ranked as one of the top 4 boys teams in the nation. This team he coached for over 4 years while playing and winning championships at UCI.
David Fischer – 20 year coach, played for the U.S. in the Pan-Am games and NORCECA, videos on setting for beginners are extremely popular.
Andor Gyulai is Volleyball1on1 founder and owner. Andor won an NCAA Championship UCLA, and has been invited to play beach and indoor for South Africa! Andor has been coaching volleyball since 16 when he was the head coach of his high school his junior and senior year. Andor has filmed and edited over 2000 instructional videos and has the most popular video in the world on volleyball spiking technique.

This lesson will cover the basics skill of indoor volleyball setting taught by David Fischer and Mike Diehl. This lesson will cover the fundamentals and basics of setting including, hand position, foot position, moving and getting under the ball to take it on your head, opening up shoulders and facing your target and verbal cues associated with each of these points. Note this lesson is targeted at all players on your team. We have also created videos specifically for the setter position.

This lesson will cover the basics skill of indoor volleyball setting for setters with 3 time NCAA Champion and Olympian Stein Metzger and 2 time NCAA Champion Chris Austin. Volleyball For Beginners – Indoor Volleyball Serving
This lesson will cover the basics skill of indoor volleyball serving specifically the standing float serve. This is the most common serve for beginners and also the most effective for starting players. This lesson will cover the fundamentals of serving including the toss, arm swing, making the ball float, and how to generate power on the serve.
