The 6 on 6 Exchange Volleyball Drill on the net is one of the best drills to focus on team ball control and individual controlled hitting. This drill also works on the important and often ignored volleyball skill of moving without the ball. Now considering the fact that the majority of the time players are moving without the ball it is always surprising how little coaches practice this critical skill.
This video reveals Kerri’s insights on how the first two practices with the help Andor has helped her with her coaching process and practice planning. This is a great video of high school and club coaches.
This video features the end of volleyball practice 2 review with the team in the huddle. Its a great video as you will notice how Andor communicates with the team and gets them to focus on important points he is trying to work on during the practice. This video is a great demonstration of how coaches can better use the Socratic method of asking open probe questions to get results. Also this will show coaches how to use the end of practice review huddle to help players better prepare individually and as a team for the next practice.
This is a 6 on 6 Game Wash Drill which includes 4 balls: Serve, Bounce Ball, Free Ball and then a second Serve. Two balls are entered via serve as this is the most common way the ball is entered in volleyball. One ball is entered as a free ball as this is common for this age group and skill level and then one ball is entered as a bounce ball followed by a set to help the team work on transition setting.
So for the last few years now perhaps the hottest topic in volleyball is the “Read the Game” concept. The idea was brought to light by a few of the best coaches in world including Karch Kiraly, Hugh McCutcheon, Paula Weishoff, Ron Larson and Tom Black. The idea is as follows, top players better see and read what is going to happen giving them a competitive edge as the play unfolds.
In this video Jason Lockhead points out a common mistake most players make with their dominant vs. their non dominant hand when blocking. Its simple to fix and can have a huge impact but players need to be conscious of it and focus on it! In this video Jason also talks about what your hands should be doing up in the air when blocking.
This video features more of Jason Lockhead’s Superman Defense Technique plus insightful ideas to help players with what is the correct mindset when playing beach defense. This video again demonstrates that great teachers / coaches have the ability to simplify the game and focus on the positive things that matter. Jason demonstrates this in this video as he does throughout practice.
This video describes Jason Lockhead Superman Defense Technique. The technique involves you putting your non digging hand in the sand for more control so that you look like superman “Flying Pose” as you fly along the top of the sand. This technique was filmed while during practice while Jason was running a 2 ball beach volleyball defense drill.

This defense drill is focused on players starting position of defense and not leaning as this can make it extremely difficult to change directions. This is a simple drill where the coach hits 3 balls, two balls for the blockers and 1 ball for the defender behind the block. The hits to the defender start originally as a line or cut shot but are modified over time. Also the blocking position is changed from line to angle and the number of hits the coach can hit is increased as the drill progresses.
This is another great warm up drill which focuses on covering the hitter as well as lifting the ball after you cover the hit and getting back and ready to spike. This drill works on allot of beach skills that are often ignored but by doing it during the warm up it allows the players to work on skills while building into their hitting.
This video features Andor teaching and running the his Omaha Pressure Serving Volleyball Drill.
