We are now finished with our warm up drills and now are moving into Dan first full team drill that can also be used as a correction drill if needed. A correction drill is a drill that allows the coach to work on specific skills for specific players. All skills can be worked on with this drill except serve receive. In this video you will hear Dan talk about the correction drill and how they use it in practice!
I find fascinating about watching Dan talk about this drill and the timing of the drill. Something Dan does better than most coaches I have seen is his ability to engage his players in the practice and take ownership of improving. This drill exemplify this including how mid way through the drill he ask the players if there is anything they want to work on individually.
Keeping this chain of thought in mind most coaches do not notice the timing of the drill meaning where it is in practice. Note it is the first team drill in practice so literally Dan starts the serious part of practice by allowing the players to take ownership of the skills they want to improve. This timing and how he runs the drill is a testament to his incredible coaching skill and I hope you other coaches can learn from it!
